Secretary Bilateral attends joint meeting on safety and security of Chinese projects in Maldives

The First Joint Meeting of Tripartite Cooperation on safety and security issues concerning Chinese projects in the Maldives, comprising representatives from the Government of the Maldives, the Government of China and Chinese companies, was held in Male’ at Hotel Jen, today.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Bilateral, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Khaleel, stated that as China is a key development partner of Maldives, undertaking several infrastructure development projects, the Government of Maldives gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety and security of all those who are involved in these projects. He also expressed hope that this initiative by the Embassy of China to hold a joint meeting will be a good first step for future cooperation in this regard.
From the Maldivian side, the Meeting was attended by the senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldives Police Service, and representatives of relevant Government agencies of Maldives. From the Chinese side, the Meeting was attended by officials of the Embassy of China in Maldives and representatives from Chinese companies undertaking projects in the Maldives.
