Foreign Minister Meets with the Special Envoy of Portugal Image 1

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim today received the Special Envoy of Portugal, His Excellency Dr. Joaquim Ferreira Marques. The purpose of Amb. Marques visit to the Maldives was to hold discussions on the ongoing bilateral cooperation between Maldives and Portugal and explore areas for further collaboration. 

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions centered on cooperation on issues of migration, countering terrorism and violent extremism, and tourism development as well as on cooperation on multilateral issues.

The Maldives and Portugal established diplomatic relations in 1995, and has enjoyed historic ties of close cooperation on a number of key areas.
