Foreign Minister meets with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim, today, met with His Excellency Dr. Yousuf bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
During the meeting, Minister Asim reaffirmed the importance the Maldives attaches to the OIC and international issues of concern to the Muslim Ummah. He reiterated the commitment of the Government of Maldives in contributing effectively to resolve these issues in close collaboration with the Member States of the OIC and the its Secretariat.
The OIC Secretary General, H.E. Dr. Al-Othaimeen described Maldives as an important member of OIC who has always raised its voice on the issues concerning Muslim Ummah and highlighted the valuable contributions of the Maldives towards its solidarity. Minister Asim was accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Khaleel, Secretary, Bilateral and Mr. Javed Faizal, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister Asim also hosted a luncheon in the honour of OIC Secretary General, which was attended by the senior officials of the Ministry.
