The new Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to India, Her Excellency Aishath Mohamed Didi presented her Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of India, His Excellency Ram Nath Kovind today. At a grand ceremony held today at “Rashtrapati Bhavan” – the Presidential Palace, Her Excellency Aishath Mohamed Didi also presented the Letter of Recall of her predecessor to the President of India.

During the call, following the Ceremony, His Excellency the President of India congratulated Ambassador Aishath Mohamed Didi on the commencement of her term and conveyed greetings and good wishes to His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the Republic of Maldives.

Ambassador Aishah expressed sincere appreciation on behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Maldives for the continued assistance from India in the socio-economic development of the Maldives. Ambassador Aishah assured the commitment of the Government and the people of Maldives to further enhance the close cooperation with India.

Ambassador Aishah is the fifth resident Ambassador and also the first ever female Ambassador accredited to India to represent the Maldives, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries, on 1 November 1965.

The auspicious Ceremony of the presentation of the Letter of Credence by Ambassador Aishath Mohamed Didi was attended by Minister (Deputy Chief of Mission) Ms Aminath Shabeena, Minister-Counsellor Ms Fathimath Shafeega, Defence Attache’ Lt. Col. Ahmed Thohir, Third Secretary Mr. Abdulla Aruham, and daughter Ms Noora Ibrahim Zahir, and son-in-law Mr. Ali Nashid.
