Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid attends the ceremony to commemorate the extension of the Bicocca University Outpost Agreement

Foreign Minister His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, was the Chief Guest at the function held to commemorate the extension of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and UniversitĂ Degli Studi Di Milano-Bicocca, on the establishment of its outpost in Faafu Atoll Magoodhoo, this afternoon.
At the function held at Maagiri Hotel, Foreign Minister noted that the Maldives stands to benefit greatly from the quality scientific research and cooperation programmes at Bicocca University. He also highlighted the important work carried out by Bicocca University in exploring ways to preserve marine life and its contribution towards sustainable development, particularly in Faafu Atoll Magoodhoo.
Minister Shahid also thanked the Government of Italy for their valued contributions and dedicated engagement and commitment to the Maldives.
The Italian Ambassador to the Maldives, Her Excellency Rita Giuliana Mannella also spoke at the function, highlighting on the collaboration between Italy and Maldives and noted the Italian government’s readiness in providing assistance which would contribute in further enhancing the relationship between both countries.
The Pro-Rector for Internationalization of the University of Milano-Bicocca, Professor Andrea Biondi and Rector Professor Maria Cristina Messa, further reflected on the ten-year Anniversary of Bicocca Outpost in Magoodhoo and the important activities that were carried out during this period.
The function was attended by senior government officials and faculty members of Bicocca University.
