Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid participated and delivered remarks in the roundtable discussions hosted by The Atlantic Council about the democratization journey of the Maldives.

During Minister Shahid’s remarks, he highlighted on the Maldives democratization journey of the Maldives and the challenges faced by the country in consolidating the gains of democracy. He also conveyed commitment of the current administration of the Maldives, in upholding the principles of democracy and good governance, and to strengthen democratic institutions that can hold and keep political leaders accountable.

Minister Shahid was accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel, Permanent Ambassador of Maldives of the United States of America, Ali Naseer Mohamed, and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
