Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrives in UAE to attend OIC Foreign Ministers Meeting

Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has arrived tonight in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to attend the 46th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Minister Shahid was received at the airport by His Excellency Dr Hussain Niyaaz, Ambassador of the Maldives to the United Arab Emirates, and officials from the Maldives Embassy.
During his participation at the OIC Foreign Ministers Meeting, Minister Shahid will deliver a national statement briefing the Member States on the recent political and democratic achievements in the Maldives, as well as outlining Maldives’ perspective on key issues affecting the Muslim Ummah.
Minister Shahid is being accompanied by Mr Abdulla Humayd, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Javed Faizal, Additional Secretary and, Mr. Miuvaan Mohamed, Communications Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Maldives became a member of the OIC in 1976, and since then had actively participated in the activities and meetings of the organization. Comprising mainly of Muslim majority countries, it presently has 57 Member States.
