United States Ambassador to the Maldives calls on Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid

The Ambassador of the United States of America to the Maldives, Alaina Teplitz paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, both the Foreign Minister and the Ambassador held discussions on ways to further strengthen the existing cooperation between the Maldives and the US.
Ambassador Teplitz briefed Minister Shahid on the US led initiatives in the Maldives, in areas such as aviation security cooperation, public financial management and support towards institutional reform. Minister Shahid expressed appreciation to the U.S. Government’s continued efforts and assistance provided to the Maldives and assured his commitment to increasing cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual benefit.
Foreign Minister Shahid was accompanied by Ahmed Khaleel, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Foreign Secretary, Thilmeeza Hussain who is nominated as the Ambassador of Maldives to the US and Shiuneen Rasheed, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
