Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India arrives in Maldives, on official visit

The Minister of External Affairs of India Her Excellency Sushma Swaraj has arrived on an official visit to Maldives this afternoon. The Minister of External Affairs of India is visiting the Maldives on the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Abdulla Shahid.
The Minister was received at Velana International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During this visit, the Minister of External Affairs will call on President of the Maldives His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Speaker of Parliament His Excellency Qasim Ibrahim, and meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs. A joint Ministerial Meeting will be held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministers of Defence, Finance, National Planning and Infrastructure, Health, Transport and Civil Aviation, Arts, Culture and Heritage, Environment, and Economic Development. The External Affairs Minister will also meet with the Minister of Home Affairs.
Both governments will discuss ongoing and future collaboration arrangements, including the implementation of the agreed outcomes of the State Visit to India by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. In this regard, it is expected that discussions will focus on development cooperation, cooperation in the field of health, and enhancing people-to-people contact.
