Minister Shahid sends message of condolence to Sri Lankan Foreign Minister

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of condolence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Tilak Marapana, following the multiple explosions that took place in Sri Lanka today.
Minister’s message reads as follows: “It is with profound shock and sadness that I received the news of the multiple explosions that rocked the city of Colombo and other parts of Sri Lanka, claiming hundreds of innocent lives and injuring numerous others. The Maldives strongly condemns these heinous and cowardly acts of terrorism perpetrated against innocent people. We remain steadfast and firmly committed to the fight against terrorism and stand in solidarity with the Government and people of Sri Lanka in this time of national crisis and grief.
The Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Government and people of Sri Lanka, in particular, to the families of the deceased and injured in today’s explosions.
