Ms. Shoko Noda, the United Nations Resident Coordinator to the Maldives, paid a farewell call on His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During this meeting, Ms. Shoko thanked the Government and people of the Maldives for the warm hospitality extended to her during her term in the Maldives. As she completes her assignment, 

Ms. Shoko noted feeling a sense of achievement and hope for the Maldives; and congratulated the Minister for the Government’s commitment to fulfilling its human rights obligations.

Minister Shahid conveyed appreciation for the Resident Coordinator’s exemplary discharge of her duties since she assumed her post in October 2014. Minister commended the Resident Coordinator for her constructive engagement with the government and the opposition alike.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Foreign Secretary; His Excellency Dr. Asim Ahmed, Ambassador-at-large; Mr. Javed Faizal, Additional Secretary and Ms. Maryam Reesha, Director. The UN Resident Coordinator was accompanied by Ms. Huda Adam, Head of UN Resident Coordinator’s Office and Ms. Aishath Rizna, Assistant Resident Representative – Democratic Governance & Peacebuilding, UNDP.
