Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid holds bilateral talks with Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid held bilateral talks with the Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov. At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia today, both the Ministers discussed on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the countries in various sectors.

Foreign Minister Lavrov expressed the interest of the Government of Russia to expand trade ties with the Maldives and assured that the required export permits would be expedited for Maldivian companies. The Ministers also discussed on expanding cooperation in human resource development, tourism, climate change and counter-terrorism.

Minister Shahid was accompanied at the meeting by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Ambassador of Maldives to Germany Ahmed Latheef, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shiuneen Rasheed and Desk Officer Mariyam Asif.

Minister Lavrov was accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Morgulov, Director of the Second Department for Asia Zamir Kabulov, Deputy Director of the Second Department for Asia Aleksey Dedov, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department Artem Kozhin and Head of Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka Desk of the Second Department for Asia Vyacheslav Ermolaev.
