Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of Finland

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid had a telephone conversation with his Finnish counterpart, Pekka Haavisto, todayThe two Ministers discussed the challenges faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic and briefed on the measures taken by the respective govenments to contain the spread of the virus and to deal with the unprecedented global health emergency.Minister Haavisto thanked the government for its efforts to safely evacuate Finnish nationals back to their country. Minister Shahid acknowledged with appreciation the cooperation and assistance extended by the government of Finland and conveyed that Maldives would always be ready to welcome them once the situation normalizes.Both Ministers stressed the need for joint efforts in responding to COVID-19 and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and collaboration in advancing interests on areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and internationally.ENDS
