Minister Shahid in his capacity as President-elect of the UN General Assembly to visit Japan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, in his capacity as the President-elect of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, at the invitation of the Government of Japan, is scheduled to conduct an official visit to Japan from 26-28 August 2021.
During the visit, Minister Shahid will make a courtesy call on Hon. Suga Yoshihide, Prime Minister of Japan, and will also meet with Hon. Motegi Toshimitsu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The visit will provide an opportunity for both the Minister, in his capacity as the President-elect, and the Government of Japan to hold close consultations on enhancing cooperation within the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly. The visit will also focus on bilateral aspects of the relationship between Maldives and Japan.
