Statement by the Government of Maldives welcoming the Establishment of Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen

The Government of Maldives welcomes the establishment of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen to complete the implementation of the tasks of the transitional period, and delegate it to the full powers of the President, in accordance with the Yemeni constitution, the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms.

The Government of Maldives affirms its full support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council to undertake the duties entrusted to the Council in establishing an effective, democratic and transparent government.

The Government of Maldives also expresses its hope that this important development would contribute to reaching a comprehensive political solution between the Yemeni parties towards the attainment of peace, stability, growth and prosperity for its people.
