Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid met the Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, today.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Shahid reflected on the close brotherly relations between Maldives and the United Arab Emirates. Minister Shahid also expressed gratitude to the leadership and Government of UAE for the valuable contribution towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives and reiterated the importance of further strengthening the historical ties between the two countries.

Director General Al Suwaidi, welcomed Minister Shahid and assured that UAE would extend its support in all areas of cooperation and will always remain as a special development partner of Maldives. Director General Al Suwaidi, further reiterated commitment to work closely with the Government of Maldives.

Minister Shahid was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel and Ambassador of Maldives to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Dr. Hussain Niyaaz.
