Contracts signed for ceremony of five projects for the development of Eco -Tourism Zones in Addu City

Contracts for the development of Eco -Tourism Zones in five districts of Addu City was signed today. Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed participated in the signing ceremony held in Addu City, via video link. The Foreign Secretary was joined by the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Sunjay Sudir and officials from High Commission of India and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The contracts signed today, at Addu City Council are the contracts for development of Eco-Tourism Zones in Addu City -Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Feydhoo, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo.
Speaking at the ceremony, Foreign Secretary congratulated the Mayor and City Council for the important milestone achieved in realizing the City’s vision of being a thriving economic hub, and an established tourist destination. He further highlighted the contribution of these projects towards sustainable tourism development and foreign investment opportunities for the industrial development of the City.These projects are undertaken under the MoU signed on 17 March 2019 for “Indian Grant Assistance for Implementation of High Impact Community Development Projects through local bodies”.
