Ms. Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative presents her Letter of Appointment to His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs

Ms. Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative presented her Letter of Appointment to H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Minister congratulated Ms. Akiko on her appointment and welcomed her to the Maldives. The Minister further expressed his profound appreciation for the role UN plays in the development process of Maldives, and in all areas of human development, including poverty eradication, climate and disaster risk resilience, as well as democracy and governance.
The UNDP Representative thanked the Minister for the trust and confidence placed in her and the UN System, by the Government of Maldives. The Minister and the UNDP Representative discussed ways to further strengthen collaboration between the Government of the Maldives and the United Nations to implement the Government’s ambitious development agenda. The Minister further assured that the Government of Maldives will continue to work closely with, and extend full cooperation to the UNDP Representative in executing her duties.
The Minister was accompanied by His Excellency Dr. Asim Ahmed, Ambassador-at-large and Ms. Mariyam Reesha, Director. The UNDP Representative was accompanied by Ms. Mariyam Nazra, UNDP Assistant Resident Representative and Ms. Makhdhooma Nazim, Communications Officer of UNDP.ENDS.
